Portraying Gay Men in Nigeria

The on-going work of the international acclaimed Photographer, Andrew Asiebo, which portrait Nigerian gay men, blends the private and the public by inviting us in the living quarters of the men in this series.
Through these portraits, the artist is investigating “their social identities and what the spaces reflect. Does their spaces reflect fear, double identities, struggle, freedom or hope?”
These portraits and the questions they ask the viewers are even more important today that Nigeria has passed, earlier this year, one of the most draconian anti-homosexuality bills in the world.
